Orlando Melbourne International Airport is home to a wide array of high-tech and aerospace businesses, including Fortune 500 companies such as Harris Corp. and Northrop Grumman.
 



Northrop Grumman

Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) is the home to Northrop Grumman’s Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence. In 2015, Northrop made history winning the largest defense contract in history for the U.S. Air Force’s next generation Long Range Strike Bomber (LRS-B), the B-21 Raider. The contract has spurred a rapid expansion of 1,800 jobs and $500 million in infrastructure airside at MLB.

Northrop Grumman’s MLB campus is also home of the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye and Airborne Mine Countermeasures, the U.S. Air Force Joint STARS and C-2A Greyhound programs.

   


Embraer Executive Jets

In 2008, Embraer Executive Jets selected Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) as its U.S. location for the assembly, paint, sales and delivery of its Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 aircraft, which are now made exclusively at MLB. Since Embraer’s landing, it has expanded its campus and facilities to include the assembly, paint and sales the larger Legacy 450 and Legacy 500 aircraft. Embraer’s Engineering and Technology Center USA is also located at MLB.

Embraer’s current facilities total more than 450,000 sq. ft. on nearly 80 acres airside at MLB. An additional 100+ acres are currently optioned for potential expansion.

The Phenom 300 continues to carry the title as the world’s most delivered business jet for the fourth year in a row.

   



Harris Corporation World Headquarters

When Harris Corporation acquired Virginia-based Exelis Inc. in 2015, Harris decided to keep its world headquarters at Orlando Melbourne International Airport. MLB’s new Air Traffic Control Tower will feature Harris’ state-of-the-art NextGen technology. MLB is also home to the pilot program of Harris’ Symphony Software Suite to advance airfield surveillance and security. 

Harris supports government and commercial customers worldwide in communication, electronic, space and intelligence systems, and has approximately $6 billion in annual revenue. It is also one of Brevard County’s largest employers with more than 23,000 employees, with 9,000 of them being engineers and scientists. 

   

Rockwell Collins

Rockwell Collins has been located at Orlando Melbourne International Airport for more than 40 years, recently renewing its land lease for up to another 50 years. At MLB, Rockwell Collins tests and manufactures aviation electronics for commercial passenger and business aircraft from well-known companies such as Airbus, Gulfstream, Beechcraft and LearJet.

Starting with only 13 employees at MLB in 1974, Rockwell Collins now operates with more than 1,400 employees. 

   

 

Satcom Direct

Satcom Direct’s Global Headquarters is located in Melbourne, FL, with its brand-new Flight Operations Center at Orlando Melbourne International Airport. Satcom operates several divisions, supplying connectivity and communication solutions to business aviation, military, government and commercial systems. 

 



Southeast Aerospace 

Southeast Aerospace (SEA) celebrates more than 20 years of success and expansion at MLB. SEA provides a unique combination of products and services, by integrating parts distribution and MRO with complete aircraft modification services. Its customers range throughout the general aviation, corporate, regional airline and rotor aircraft markets. 

   
 


STS Aviation

STS Aviation Group’s Mod Center is located at Orlando Melbourne International Airport’s 83,000 sq. ft. MRO hangar capable of handling a full-fueled Boeing 747.

STS Mod Center has a global presence with a backing of experienced technicians in avionics, engines and structures, allowing the capabilities to ramp-up operations quickly and efficiently. Its facilities and staff provide for exceptional services on commercial aircraft to include A, B and C maintenance checks, rapid in-flight connectivity installations, avionics overhaul, repair and installations, and more.
