Satcom Direct, Inc.’s flight operations now among the safest

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2012) — Satcom Direct, Inc., a Satellite Beach-based satellite communications company with flight operations at Melbourne International Airport, placed its flight operations department among the safest in the world recently by earning the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) certification.

Satcom Direct spent more than a year reviewing and upgrading its flight systems, programs and procedures to pass the IS-BAO audit, said Rob Waldron, Satcom Direct flight operations director.

The IS-BAO standards were developed by the International Business Aviation Council, a non-profit organization representing the interests of business aviation globally.

“We are pleased that Satcom Direct has achieved this impressive standard,” said Richard Ennis, airport executive director. “It is a testament to the company’s commitment to safety and excellence.”

Satcom Direct provides global satellite communications to business aviation, military aviation, general aviation, land mobile and maritime customers. The company currently has satellite offices in Washington, D.C., Seattle and Savannah, Ga. It expects to open an office in the United Kingdom this spring.
