Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA) High-Technology Incubator

The TRDA Business Innovation Center, located within the Florida Tech Research Park at Melbourne International Airport, helps start-up technology companies in Central Florida grow into financially viable, freestanding, high-growth companies.

By bringing together a wide range of business resources under one roof, the Center offers a dynamic climate that encourages entrepreneurial success. Graduate companies have the potential to create high-value jobs, commercialize new technologies, attract local and national capital investment and strengthen the economy.

Companies are afforded a quality environment with hands-on assistance needed to grow and prosper. Resources include access to modern office space, shared office resources, business services, investment capital and more.

The TRDA was established by the Florida Legislature in 1987 as an Independent Special District. It is served by a five-member board of directors, appointed by the Governor.

The key to TRDA's success has been partnerships with numerous local, state and federal agencies, as well as with the private sector, to generate tens of millions of dollars in funding to support education and economic-development initiatives. During the past 18 years, TRDA has chartered an aggressive course in making technology work for America.

Small business is the backbone of America's economy. But getting started can be challenging for many entrepreneurs, who face numerous hurdles during the first few years of operations. Indeed, about half of start-ups fail to make it beyond five years, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. This is where the TRDA comes in, with a team of experts who work tirelessly to nurture new small businesses toward long-term success.

TRDA is led by Executive Director Chester J. Straub, Jr.
