Orlando-Melbourne International Airport’s use of Twitter to reach out to customers is getting high marks. A recent ranking of airports using the popular social-networking site named Melbourne International the world’s best. As published in’s “Wheels Up” column, Orlando-Melbourne International was at the top of the list created by Ontario-based AirGate Solutions, an airport marketing and consulting company. Mission Accomplished: Call for Resumes Draws More Than 250

The Space Coast has a qualified, experienced and available labor force ready to get to work, and Melbourne International Airport has a stack of resumes to prove it. Airport officials put out a call for resumes a little more than a month ago to show aviation-related industries that the area has the work force to fulfill their needs. Melbourne International, which boasts an expansive industrial and research park, is being considered for several new aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities. Read More
Melbourne International Is Impact Award Winner

Major developments including new flights and a new research park prompted a major business group to recently honor Melbourne International Airport as a key anchor in the region’s economic success. The Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida presented airport officials with an Impact Award for achievements in 2009, including landing new service from US Airways and Direct Air and creation of the 100-acre Florida Tech Research Park. Florida Institute of Technology, the airport’s partner in the research park, and Harris Corp., also were honored as Impact Award winners. Read More
Traveler Numbers Climb at Melbourne International

Melbourne International Airport officials expected great things with the much-anticipated return of US Airways, and it didn’t take long for those expectations to be met. In its first full month of operations, US Airways contributed heavily to a whopping 75 percent increase in passenger traffic in March, compared with the same month last year. Read More
