RUNway has new meaning for Brevard Corporate 5K

Orlando Melbourne Int’l Airport hosts annual event; participation expected to boost

MELBOURNE, FL (May 24, 2017) – Local runners will experience a welcomed flat surface when the popular Corporate 5K Run moves to Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB).  Sponsored by Florida Today, the April 19, 2018 event welcomes corporate teams from all over the region to benefit United Way of Brevard.

Led by Running Zone Foundation, Inc. and touted as the area’s largest office party, the most recent race in March gathered more than 2,000 participants from 80 companies and organizations. The 2018 race is expected to take off with record runner, supporter and corporate attendance.  Racers will be afforded a rare close-up view of airside corporate giants such as Embraer Executive Jets, Northrop Grumman and AeroMod International.

“Giving runners the opportunity to run on one of our airfield’s treasured runways is going to add a level of excitement and uniqueness to an already successful event,” said Clifford Graham, the airport’s director of operations and maintenance. “It is a great opportunity for us to showcase our incredible facilities to hundreds of professionals throughout our community.”

“We are extremely excited about partnering with Orlando Melbourne International Airport to host Running Zone Foundation’s FLORIDA TODAY Corporate 5K next year,” said Denise Piercy, executive director of Running Zone Foundation, Inc., coordinator of the 5K. “The airport offers world-class service to residents and businesses within the region, and we are honored that they have agreed to host our 2018 Corporate 5K.”

Further details about next year’s FLORIDA TODAY Corporate 5K will be announced this summer with registration opening on September 1, 2017.
